Information

We help people understand why bees matter, the pressures they face and how everyday choices can support pollinators, at home, at school and in the community.

Habitat Restoration

We guide gardeners, landholders and community groups to create and restore bee-friendly habitat, from planting diverse flowering species to protecting nesting sites

Community Engagement

Engage with like-minded individuals through events, workshops, and volunteer programs to actively contribute to bee conservation and ecosystem health.

Why Bees Matter for Our Food and Future

Bees may be small, but they have a huge impact. They help pollinate many of the fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds we eat, and keep wild landscapes and biodiversity alive.

When pollinators decline, food security and healthy ecosystems are at risk.

Australian Bee Conservation exists to turn that concern into constructive action. We promote practical, affordable measures that can be adopted by households, schools, landholders and businesses, and we actively highlight initiatives that can be replicated or scaled.

Facts

1 in 3 bites of food relies on pollinators

Bees and other animal pollinators are involved in about one in every three bites of food we eat, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Up to 75% of crop types depend on pollinators

Around three-quarters of the world’s leading crop types rely on animal pollinators to some degree, and a significant share of global crop production depends directly on them.

Nearly 90% of wild flowering plants need pollinators

Most flowering plant species depend on animals like bees to reproduce, supporting biodiversity, wildlife habitat and resilient ecosystems.
